The ‘Free Weight Fitness’ Class is set to motivating music using a bar, set of weights and an aerobic step.

(This Class Is Similar To BODY PUMP)

This class is open to all fitness abilities from Age 16 to Adult.

Booking is required for this class due to limited equipment.

This non-impact, resistance–training session commences with a warm-up, then works all your major muscle groups, using a variety of weight-bearing exercises including squats, lunges, presses and lifts. The class finishes with abdominal work, then a cool-down by stretching all the major muscle groups to avoid injury, reduce any risk of muscle soreness, and enhance and maintain flexibility.

This fantastic free weights class will tone and condition muscles, increase muscular strength and endurance, whilst at the same time raising your metabolic rate for rapid fat-burning. Further benefits of strength training is that it helps burn more calories even when not exercising. This class may also reduce the risk of short-term injuries by protecting tendons, bones and joints and could help prevent long-term medical problems such as high cholesterol or osteoporosis (weakening of the bones) when you get older.

If you’re new to weights-resistance exercise or you’re out of shape, you should start with lighter weights. After a few classes you’ll recognise the correct weight for you. If you’re unsure, please ask your instructor. Your instructor will ensure every class is safe, effective and fun.

It is advised that you attend a FREE 20 MINUTE TECHNIQUE SESSION so your instructor can run you through each exercise that will be used in the class, explaining the correct technique to use, in order to prevent risk of injury and in order to obtain the most benefit. A Technique Session is essential if you are new to using free weights. Please phone/email the instructor (details below) to make an appointment prior to attending a Free Weight Fitness class.
